Songling
Help
Write to support@songling.app. It helps to say which iPad or Mac you have, its system version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. A real person reads every message, usually within a couple of days.
What does it run on?
An iPad with iPadOS 26 or later, and a Mac. One purchase covers both. Songling runs in landscape and is made for a big screen, so it isn't on iPhone.
Can I use it with my DAW?
Not as a plug-in. Export a song or sketch as MIDI and open it in your DAW, on your iPad or your Mac; most DAWs read MIDI files. MusicXML opens in notation apps.
Where is my work kept?
Inside the app on your iPad or Mac, and in its backups. Deleting Songling deletes it, so save copies of anything you want to keep: File, then save to file, sends a .songling file to Files or iCloud Drive.
How do I open a .songling file someone sent me?
Tap it in Files, Mail or AirDrop, tap Share, and choose Songling. A song opens on the Song page, a sketch in the Sketch, and a progression joins your progressions. Inside the app, File, then open file, does the same.
Does it keep playing when I switch apps?
No. Songling stops playing when you leave it, so it never sounds over another app.
I can't hear anything.
Check the iPad's volume, and whether it is connected to Bluetooth headphones or a speaker you aren't using. Songling plays through whatever your iPad is playing through. If another app was using audio, close it, then come back to Songling.
Does it work with a keyboard?
Yes. The shortcuts are listed in the Guide, under Touch & keys. A trackpad or mouse works too.
I have a new iPad. How do I get Songling back?
Download it again from the App Store with the same Apple Account; you won't pay twice. Your work comes across if you set up the new iPad from a backup of the old one. Otherwise, open the .songling files you saved.
How do I ask for a refund?
Apple handles refunds for anything bought on the App Store: go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
Where do I learn the rest?
The Guide, in the side bar, explains every page. Its Credits tab lists the version you have and the people and libraries Songling is built on.
