Songling Metronome

Help

Write to support@songling.app. It helps to say which iPhone or iPad you have, its version of iOS (Settings › General › About), and what you were doing when it went wrong. A real person reads every message, usually within a couple of days.

I bought the full version on another device. How do I get it back?

Tap the gear at the top right, then Unlock the full version, then Restore purchases. It comes back on any iPhone or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. There is nothing else to set up and no account of ours.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are made through Apple, and so are refunds: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.

The tuner doesn't hear anything

The tuner needs the microphone. If you said no when it asked, open the iPhone's Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone and turn on Songling Metronome, then come back to the Tuner tab. The tuner starts listening when you open its tab. While it listens, the metronome, the bass and the drone stop, so it hears only your instrument.

Can it keep playing when the screen locks, or under my music?

Yes. The click, the bass and the drone carry on with the screen locked, with play and pause on the Lock Screen. To play along with a song from another app, turn on Play along with other music in Settings › General; otherwise starting the metronome pauses the other app, as a music app would. (iOS lets a sound that mixes with other music play only while the screen is on, so with that switch on, the click stops when the phone locks.)

Can I start and stop it with a foot pedal?

Yes: a Bluetooth page-turner pedal. Pair it in the iPhone's Bluetooth settings, then set what each pedal does in Settings › General › Foot pedal (play or stop, the next or previous preset, and more).

How do I use a sound of my own as the click?

Record it (Voice Memos works well), save it to Files, then add it in Settings › Sound › Your sounds. A WAV, MP3 or M4A file of a second or two is ideal. It stays on your device.

How do I share a progression or a preset?

On the Drone tab, tap Share beside your progression; for a preset, use Settings › Share. You get a link starting songling.app/m/. On an iPhone or iPad with Songling Metronome, tapping it opens it in the app; without the app it opens a page that shows what was shared. To open one someone sent you, tap it, or copy it and paste it in Drone › Open a shared one.

How do I get the bass to play my chords?

On the Bass tab, open Change over time. The bass follows the drone's changes (set them on the Drone tab; the drone need not be playing), or switch it to a progression of its own. Tap a chord to change it, its × to take it out. The bass is part of the full version.

The voice count sounds different from the click

The count is spoken by your device's own voice. If it is missing words at fast tempos, that is by design: as the notes get quicker it counts the way players do, "one and two and", then just the numbers.
