Privacy

Your charts, sheet music, setlists, books, Pencil markup, marks and any recordings you attach are ordinary files in the Songling Stand folder of the Files app. With iCloud turned on (Settings in the app), that folder is in your own iCloud Drive, so your iPad and iPhone see the same library; Apple keeps it under your Apple Account, as it does your other iCloud files, and we can't see it. With iCloud off, it stays on the device. Deleting the app on a device deletes that device's copy; your iCloud copy stays until you remove it in Files.

The tuner uses the microphone, and only the tuner, only while it's open and listening. What it hears is measured on your device, there and then, to find the pitch of the note you play. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere. You can turn the microphone off for the app at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone; everything except the tuner works without it.

A recording you attach to a song is copied into that song's folder in your library, as it was given, and played on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere by the app.

Page-turner pedals and MIDI devices connect to your iPad or iPhone directly, through Apple's Bluetooth and MIDI. The app reads the pedal's key presses to turn pages and sends program changes to the MIDI devices you choose; nothing about them is sent to us.

The unlock is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple Account; we are told only whether the purchase has been made, so the app can unlock, and nothing about who you are.

Nothing of ours. It works fully without an internet connection. The only outside services it uses are Apple's own: iCloud Drive for your library, if you turn it on, and the App Store for the purchase.

Like any website, songling.app is hosted by a company that keeps the usual short-lived server logs of page requests (the address a request came from and the browser it was made with). We use them only to keep the site running, never to identify anyone.

The app is suitable for everyone and collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

If this ever changes, this page will say so first, with a new date at the top. Songling Stand is made by Pyrokinesis Ltd, in New Zealand, and this policy follows New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020. Questions are welcome at support@songling.app.
